Arriving on Friday
Depending on your hotel, you will arrive and park either at the Sheraton or the Penn Towers. Once you check in, proceed to the Sheraton lower lobby for registration. You will receive your nametag and registration materials. From there, you can enjoy the Chocolate Social in the Sheraton Benjamin Franklin Ballroom.
Arriving on Saturday or Sunday
Please register for the conference at the Sheraton, lower lobby.
Departing on Sunday
Students at the Penn Towers should check out and either walk or drive to the Sheraton in order to attend breakfast and the region meeting.
Parking and Shuttle
Parking at the Sheraton garage is $8/day for hotel guests. Please see the conference website for other nearby parking lots and garages. There will be a Drexel shuttle at the following times:
- Friday night between Penn Towers and the Sheraton, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Saturday between the Penn Towers and the Sheraton, 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
- Saturday between the Sheraton and the Drexel campus, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. (will also go to the Penn Towers in the afternoon)
- Saturday between the Penn Towers and the Sheraton, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- The UPenn shuttle is also available to conference attendees who show their registration nametags. This shuttle stops near both hotels and makes a loop around both campuses.
Hotel Information
All individual room charges (i.e. movies, phone calls, room service) will be billed to a personal credit card. At least one person per room will need to bring a credit card and provide to the hotel upon check in. The Sheraton and Penn Tower hotels are located only 5 blocks apart. Please see the website for
directions and a map including the hotels and the Drexel campus.
What to Wear
In general, business casual attire is appropriate. This would include dress pants or khakis and tops, skirts, sweaters, blazers. For the Friday social, a more casual but neat attire is an option. For the career fair, you may wish to dress more towards business attire (suits, pant suits). For the Saturday banquet, professional evening attire such as skirts, dresses, suits, is appropriate.
What to Bring
For the conference events, you will receive items including a bag, pen, notepaper, and the conference program at registration. You may wish to bring a more professional case or portfolio for the career fair. Resumes and business cards should be included in your packing list! The SWE boutique will be open and sections will have SWE items for sale, so be sure to bring some money for purchases.
Conference Schedule
The schedule has been posted on the website and will be included in your registration materials. Please attend all conference events for which you signed up. Also, note the Saturday afternoon “open time” is specifically intended for the career fair and the SWE boutique. Please visit both these areas in the Drexel main building and be sure to thank our sponsors at the career fair regardless of whether or not you are looking for a job.
Safety
Philadelphia is an exciting city but also has risks. All conference attendees should travel in groups of at least 2 people, especially at night. During conference events, please remain at the hotel or on the Drexel campus. Drexel and UPenn security officers have an active presence on campus. At night, public transportation (to midnight) and taxi service (all hours) are available if you choose to go out. A list of popular restaurants and coffee shops is included in the program, and you will also receive a Philadelphia visitors’ guide. Use common sense when exploring the city and do not venture out by yourself.
