Rebecca Snelling Rose

Profession/Job Title: IT Consultant/Analyst

Employer: Accenture

Work Description:Since I am in the consulting business, my job changes as I move from project to project. For those who know the lingo, within Accenture, I am part of an Information Management group and focus on Business Intelligence and ETL (Extract Transform Load) work. It's more computer science than engineering but still follows that all important design process! In fact, about half of Accenture employees have an engineering background. In my current assignment, I am working at a large packaged foods company outside of Chicago where we are working to combine multiple sales incentive plans into one new system. This means that most weeks, I fly out to Chicago on Monday and back to Philadelphia on Thursday, and then work either from home or from the Center City Accenture office on Fridays.

College/University: Smith College with a B.S in Engineering Science in 2006

Years as a SWE member: 5

Tell us a little about yourself:
I just got married at the end of July to my wonderful high school sweetheart David Rose (hence some of your confusion as to my name)! It was a beautiful wedding at an old-fashioned inn outside of Erie, PA where he grew up and where I attended high school and my parents still live. So, high school in Erie, college in Massachusetts, and now in Philadelphia? Dave went to Drexel, so after four years of a long distance relationship, I moved down here following my graduation to join him. We have a house in Delaware County that we have been working hard to fix up, starting with re-wiring the whole thing! This hasn’t left a lot of time for hobbies or community involvement but now that we have a least a few rooms "done," we are starting to branch out. I'm getting involved with SWE as section treasurer and looking to meet some local friends who aren’t Dave's college buddies. As far as pets go, we have a cat named Goblin who greets us at the door and follows us around the house like a dog.

In 2003, Alicia bought a house in Manayunk where she has lived for the past 4 and half years with her adorable cocker spaniel Cassidy. Over the years, Alicia has put a lot of work into home improvements – her boyfriend is very handy and he has been a huge help! Alicia also enjoys playing sports. She keeps herself busy playing in an intramural field hockey league, weekly racquetball games with co-workers, Honeywell’s golf league, and running/biking along Kelly Drive. She organizes “Frisbee Fridays” at Honeywell - a group of colleagues who get together to play Ultimate Frisbee during lunch at a nearby park on Fridays. The games can get extremely competitive, but they all have a great time.
