A Associate Membership is available at $100 annually for women who do not qualify for any other membership grade, but must be sponsored by a Professional Member. Your sponsor will submit an application request for you. Non-Voting Member
B Affiliate Membership is available at $100 annually for women who do not qualify under one of the Professional Member grades, but whose work is related to the practice or training of engineering. Non-Voting Member
T Student An undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in engineering, engineering technology, or a science related to engineering at a recognized college or university can become a student member of SWE. Full-time or part-time students may be Student Members, so long as they are not employed full time in an engineering or engineering related position. Non-Voting Member
M1 Member Recent Grad 1st Year Becoming a Recent Grad Member requires an upgrade. Dues are $20. Voting Member
M2 Member Recent Grad 2nd Year Dues are $50. Voting Member
M Professional Member Any person who is or has been actively engaged in engineering work. She/he qualifies under one of the following classifications:
  • Holds a baccalaureate or advanced degree in engineering technology from a recognized college or university
  • Holds a baccalaureate or advanced degree in science related to engineering from a recognized college or university
  • Has at least five years engineering experience indicating engineering competency and achievement

New Professional membership dues are $120. Each year after that is $100. Voting Member.
ML Lifetime Member You will be expected to make a contribution of $2,000 to the SWE Endowment Fund Inc. - Headquarters Account. This contribution is payable in cash, stocks or other assets equivalent to $2,000. The contribution can be paid at the time the contract is signed, or in 3 year installments. However, if you select an extended plan, you must continue to pay annual dues until your contract is fulfilled. Once you have fulfilled the contract, life membership privileges become yours. Become a Lifetime member today! Dues are $0 annually. Voting Member
MQ Member Returned to School The professional membership fee is reduced to $50 annually for Professional Members that have returned to school. Voting Member
MR Member Retired The professional membership fee is reduced to $50 annually for retired Professional Members. Voting Member
MU Member Unemployed The professional membership fee is reduced to $50 annually for unemployed Professional Members. Voting Member
S Senior Any person who is or has been actively engaged in the profession of engineering is eligible to become a Senior Member. She/he qualifies under one of the following classifications:
  • Holds a degree in engineering from a recognized college or university and has at least six years of increasingly important engineering experience
  • Holds a degree in a science related to engineering from a recognized college or university and has at least six years of increasingly important engineering experience
  • Has a t least 11 years of increasingly important engineering experience indicating engineering competency and achievement
  • Anyone who receives the SWE Achievement Award

Becoming a Senior Member requires an upgrade. Dues are $100 annually. Voting Member
F Fellow A person who has been a Senior Member of SWE at least eight years or a member of SWE for at least twenty years may be chosen a Fellow of the Society in recognition of his/her continuous service to the advancement of women in the engineering profession. Dues are $100 annually. Voting Member
H Honorary Any person who has achieved recognition as outstanding in the field of engineering or any person who has made a significant contribution of service to the Society may be elected Honorary member by the Council of Section Representatives. Dues are $100 annually. Non-Voting Member
