Biographies of Officers


Danielle Dunn - President

Danielle first joined SWE as a freshman at Rice University in Houston, and became a vice president of the collegiate section her senior year. After graduating with her B.S. in Chemical Engineering, she moved to Pennsylvania for work, and joined the Philadelphia section of SWE. She has served as a newsletter editor, a Vice President (2 years), workshop co-coordinator for the Region E Conference hosted at Drexel (FY06), and President since FY09. She has worked at Merck for almost 6 years and recently finished a rotation in the research labs, returning to the manufacturing division. She is currently supporting start-up of a new vaccine. Danielle enjoys rollercoasters, alternative rock, dark chocolate, and traveling with her family.



Krista Pohl - Senior Vice President - Outreach, Temple Counselor

Krista currently is a civil designer in the rail department at HNTB Corporation. Since joining HNTB in 2006, Krista has worked on jobs for PennDOT, Amtrak, CSX, DM&E, SEPTA, PATCO, NJTransit. Prior to joining HNTB, she worked for DMJM+Harris and Amtrak. Her work experience includes local transportation planning, urban design and land-use, track design, track maintenance, capital maintenance project controls, estimating, and scheduling. Her current project is the $1.6B replacement of the Portal Bridge with two (2) new bridges and capacity improvements . She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering Systems from the University of Pennsylvania in 2001, and she is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering Systems from Temple University with a graduation date of December 2009. Krista was a student member of SWE all four years in college. She joined as a professional in 2006. Krista previously served as scholarship chair where she grew the applicant pool from 10 students to at least 40 students. Krista currently serves as the Senior Vice-President and Vice-President of Outreach. She is dedicated to doing an even better job in her second year as Senior Vice-President, if elected. She is trying to use her time at Temple to re-energize a student section there. In her spare time, she is studying for the PE exam.



Jessica Snyder - Vice President - Professional Development

Jessica has been an active SWE member for four years. She has served as coordinator for the National SWE Emerging Leader Systems Award since 2007. She served as Professional Development Chair for the Chicago Regional Section (CRS) and organized the professional workshops at the 2007 Region H conference. She has been a scholarship judge for both CRS and Philadelphia. In 2009, she organized the Philadelphia section meeting at Rohm and Haas. Jessica graduated from Lafayette College with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 2001. Upon graduation she started working for Rohm and Haas (now The Dow Chemical Company). She has worked in research and manufacturing and is currently managing the transfer of products between sites as part of the North American footprint redesign. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, playing volleyball, and gardening.



Jennifer Garner - Secretary

Jennifer has worked as an engineer for Merck & Co., Inc. for the past eight years. Upon graduation from Stevens Institute of Technology with a B.E. in Chemical Engineering, she started her career in the Capital Project Management department in New Jersey. While in New Jersey, she served as SWE Membership Chair and as the Counselor for Stevens. In 2002, she moved to Pennsylvania and became a Senior Manufactuing Engineer for the Bulk Vaccine production area. Presently, she has transitioned to the Vaccine Technology and Engineering department and will be working with many operating areas and outside suppliers of raw materials. In the Philadelphia section, she served one year as Section Representative and continues to be the Swarthmore counselor. In 2005-2006, Jennifer served as the co-Chair for the Region E Conference held with Drexel University in March 2006. Jennifer enjoys fencing, walking, numerous outdoor activities, and watching college football. She is also a member of the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers.



Rebecca Snelling Rose - Treasurer

Rebecca has been involved in SWE since 2002, starting as a member of the Smith College collegiate section where she was vice-president of her junior year and president her senior year. Upon graduation with a B.S. in Engineering Science, she moved to the Philadelphia area in 2006 and joined Accenture where she is currently a consultant responsible for interfaces among different databases on information management projects. Rebecca has served as the Philadelphia SWE section treasurer since FY08. She also enjoys gardening, hiking, and helping her husband with home improvement projects.

Tori, a prior student member, has been a professional member since 2000. She received her BS in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Computers from the University of Pittsburgh in 2000. While attending Pitt, she served in variety of SWE positions including secretary. Tori has M.S. in Systems Engineering from Penn State University and an MBA from Villanova. For the Philadelphia section she has served as Secretary and Membership chair. Currently, Tori is the Girl Scout Chair. She works as a Systems Engineer with Lockheed Martin, IS&GS.



Tessa Anodide - Section Representative, Newsletter Editor

Tessa joined SWE as a professional member in 2006. She has been employed as a Systems Engineer with Lockheed Martin for the past five years and is a participant in the LM Advanced Technical Leadership Program – a 2 year rotation programs designed to challenge and grow both professionally and technically. Tessa received her B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and her M.S. in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. She is currently serving as the section's Newsletter Editor. In 2008, Tessa was recognized as one of five nominees for SWE's New Face in Engineering. Tessa is also an active volunteer and mentor for FIRST Robotics, South Jersey's Educational Research and Information Center, Rutger's Nontraditional Career Resource Center and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.



Jackelynne Silva - Alternate Section Representative

Jackelynne has been a SWE member for six years. She has held the position of Publicity Chair and has supported the planning and execution of different events organized by the Rutgers Chapter. Some of them included the Annual Career Fair cosponsored with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and Women in Computer Science; High School Outreach Programs, where several students come to school for a weekend to experience university life; workshops and panel discussions for biweekly meetings. She has also being an active member of AIAA and has served as the Internal Vice President for SHPE. Jacky is currently working at Lockheed Martin, where she is the Chair for the New Employees of Space Systems Affinity Organization and Events Lead for the Diversity Council. She has stayed involved with the SWE community by supporting Women in Engineering Day, Girls Scout Mentoring Program, and has led the first E-Week program in the LM Newtown site. Jacky is looking to contribute to the Philadelphia Section by promoting events and programs to increase section involvement and by bringing the Section’s needs and achievements to the State and Region levels.

Alisha Trocciola has been a member of SWE since her freshman year at Villanova University in 2001. She served as the section President during her senior year. Upon graduation from Villanova in 2005 with a BS in chemical engineering and minor in chemisty, Alisha began working for GlaxoSmithKline located in Conshohocken, PA. Alisha works as a process engineer at GSK Biopharmaceuticals manufacturing facility.

Michelle Lore, a prior student member, has been a professional member since 2003. She graduated from Rutgers Engineering school in 1990, and continued on with her MBA also from Rutgers. Michelle has been working at Arkema for the past 12 years, and is currently in a Supply Chain positon in raw materials procurement. She is currently Corporate Chair for the Philadelphia SWE section helping to organize the scholarship fundraising efforts. She resides in Cherry Hill, NJ with her husband and two sons.

Megan joined SWE as a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh. During that time she held the position of treasurer during her senior year. Megan recently graduated from PITT with a B.S in Industrial engineering in December 2006. Since that time she has been working as a manufacturing engineer for Thomas Medical Products Inc.



Tracie Spangler - Meeting Coordinator

Tracie joined SWE her freshman year of college at Northeastern University, where she participated as the fundraising chair, vice president, and finally president her senior year. Upon graduation with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, she moved to PA to work at Merck & Co. as a Biochemical Engineer. She has been at Merck for just over 2 years, and has recently transitioned from novel product process development to inline product support for vaccines and other existing biological therapeutics. Tracie enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and pets, as well as traveling and trying new things. She is also currently working on her M. Eng in Biological Chemical Engineering part-time at Lehigh.

Sandahl Parrish - Scholarship Program

Sandahl has been a SWE member for 6 years. She was a student member at the University of Pittsburgh where she received her degree in Industrial Engineering. She minored in German and enjoys speaking the language and traveling abroad. Sandahl volunteered as a Scholarship Chair this past year. The committee reviewed over 40 applicants and next year's goal will be to improve awarness and applicants for the scholarships. Sandahl hopes to reach aspiring engineers and help out as many students as in the Philadelphia area as possible. Sandahl also enjoys playing disc golf competively, traveling, coaching lacrosse and playing league kickball.

Elyse joined SWE during her sophomore year at Rice University where she majored in Chemical Engineering. She graduated with her B.S. in 2006 and relocated to the Philadelphia area. She is currently working for Merck and Co., Inc. as a development engineer. Elyse enjoys working on developing novel vaccines and sterile liquid products.



Alexis Wallen - Region E 2010 Conference Chair, University of Pennsylvania Counselor

Alexis has been an active member of the Society of Women Engineers for the past ten years. In 2003 she joined the Philadelphia Section, and since then has served as Philadelphia SWE Senior VP-Outreach, University of Pennsylvania Professional Counselor, on the 2006 Region E Conference Planning Committee, and on the National SWE Outreach Committee. Alexis is excited to serve as Professional Chair for the 2010 Region E Conference, and looks forward to a successful event. Alexis received her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University, and worked as a chemical engineer for five years at Merck prior to returning to full-time graduate study at the University of Pennsylvania. In her spare time, Alexis enjoys traveling, playing field hockey, and speaking French with any other Francophiles she can find.



Diana Madden - Webmaster, Drexel Counselor

Diana has been actively involved in SWE for the past seven years. In 2004 she received her BS in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Power and minor in Mathematics from Drexel University. While attending Drexel University, she devoted her time as Website Coordinator for two years and then served two consecutive terms as President coordinating all section operations. Currently, Diana is the Philadelphia Website Coordinator and Drexel Counselor. Diana hopes to assist the section in a smooth transition to the new officer structure as well as getting new members involved by creating new committee chairs to better serve the goals of the section. As an engineer-in-training (EIT), Diana's professional accomplishments include designing medium voltage electrical distribution systems for the Philadelphia International Airport and Philadelphia Water Department while working for Schiller and Hersh Associates, a MEP consulting firm. She is a self taught webmaster and has a deep love for cats.
