Science Fair Judges Needed!

Where: Montgomery County Science Fair
Topic: Special Awards Judges
The Montgomery County Science Teachers’ Association and Montgomery County Community College are looking for individuals to serve as Special Awards judges at the Montgomery County Science Research Competition. Judging takes place on Friday, March 16th with the high school students presenting their projects in the morning and the middle school students presenting their projects after lunch. Penn GEARS Day: Volunteers Needed!
Penn GEARS (Girls in Engineering and Related Sciences) Day 2012
is only 1 month away and volunteers are needed!
Penn GEARS Day Information:
Date: March 24, 2012
Time: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Location: University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA
Purpose: To introduce local female high school students to engineering and allow them to explore engineering careers in a supportive environment.
Volunteers from engineering or related science fields are needed to: 1) lead a workshop, 2) assist with a workshop, and/or 3) participate in a panel discussion. The workshops include a discussion about engineering (personal experiences, daily job activities, etc.) and/or a hands-on activity related to that field of engineering (workshop leader will choose the hands-on activity). The panel discussion will also focus on personal experiences, daily job activities, etc.

10:00-10:50am: Engineering Workshop 1
11:00-11:50am: Engineering Workshop 2

Volunteers needed for Science Festival
When: Sunday, April 29th, 2012 10am-5pm
Where: Philadelphia Science Festival Discovery Day
SWE is participating in a new component of the Philadelphia Science Festival…Discovery Day! We will host a booth and provide a hands-on activity at the Independence Seaport Museum on April 29th from 10 AM to 5 PM. We are looking for volunteers to help out with the water-related activity, talk about engineering, and promote SWE. Volunteers are asked to help out for 2-hour or 3-hour shifts (if you would like to volunteer for longer that would be great). If you are interested in helping out please email outreach@philaswe.org.
STEM Speakers Bureau Volunteers Needed!!
  What does a STEM Speaker Bureau Volunteer Do: The Philadelphia Education Fund, Philadelphia Math + Science Coalition is actively recruiting individuals in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields who are willing to speak to students about their careers or give workshops for students or teachers on STEM topics.
  How much time commitment is involved: The time commitment is up to you. Each speaking engagement and/or workshop will last between 20 minutes- 2 hours (depends on the event). You can choose when to speak and how often you would like to participate.
